Three R’s.

Time to rest, regroup, and recharge.

This morning brought me a cloud of tears, feelings of despair, defeat, uneasiness and deep sorrow. A situation in my life that I thought was on the mend, just isn’t and I have begun to brace for the reality that it never will be. It’s a heartbreaking reality I have to come to terms with or it may devour me.

On the road to work this morning I was lamenting to my husband that I feel there is so much hatred in our country right now, I am unconsciously absorbing it. In some cases it’s blocking my heart and in others, it’s seeping in making me hyper sensitive. Things that I ordinarily take the high road on are affecting me in very negative ways. Some times I feel like I am just plain crazy.

That is my cue to step back and unplug. Time to rest,  regroup, and recharge.

tree

The Giving Tree

An Angel Reminder:  Praise and blame, gain and loss, pleasure and sorrow come and go like the wind.  To be happy, rest like a great tree in the midst of them all.  ~Jack Kornfield.

Tree have been symbolic and sacred to humans from as long as we have been here on Earth.  A tree’s branches reach up to heaven, and its roots venture deep into the sacred ground. Think about a tree in a storm.  It can withstand great assaults from nature, but it continues to stand strong, continuing to give to us.  Sometimes our position in life is that of a strong giving tree.  Other times the wind picks up and hurls the usual insults of life on us, and we feel unappreciated, which diminishes our ability to give.  After the wind and rain, through, the sun will warm our branches and we will again be able to provide shade for those who need it.

If you are interested in angels, you are very sensitive and are happiest when you are able to give love.  What if you are asked to keep giving until finally there is practically nothing left of you?  For a special treat, read The Giving Tree, by Shel Silverstein.

An Angelic Reflection:  I will give and be given great love.

(Angel Courage:  Terry Lynn Taylor & Mary Beth Crain ©1999 Harper Collins)

From The Angels:

trust Trust: You have to be willing to pour in everything you have before you can see Gods increase flowing in your life. Believe in yourself, the angels emphasize the value of self-trust.

The angels encourage you to give God what you have in your hands today, and as you stay faithful to do your part, God will do His part.

When you put action behind your faith and trust God, He will pour wisdom, strength, and creativity into you and help you accomplish the dreams and desires He has placed in your heart. The angels ask you to trust in God and to trust in them, they will help you trust yourself.

balance Balance:  Restore me to balance in body, mind, and spirit. Remove everything from my consciousness and body that is not in perfect alignment with your loving plan for me.

I give my full permission and cooperation to all healing forces of Divine Love and ask God and the angels to lift all of my burden.

answered-prayer Answered Prayer:  Each day connect with your soul allow the divine light in. Your prayers have been answered.

In your life find a way to experience spiritual devotion through prayer or meditation in a way that brings out devotional qualities. These qualities or energies are healing. They drive away anger. All of your prayers are always answered.

The angels request that you be observant of everything you see, hear, touch, taste, smell, or sense in any way it is an aspect of Divinity.

The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever. — 1 John 2:17 (NIV)

I lift these hands, dear God, to You,

in praise and thanks for all you do.

You light the path through all my days

and bless me with your loving ways…

I lift these hands dear God, to You,

in troubled hours when joys are few.

You bear me up on eagles’ wings and see

me through each test life brings.

I lift these hands, dear God, to You,

please grant me wisdom, patience, too.

Then fill my heart with love and caring,

precious gifts you’ve made for sharing.

~Emily Matthews

I see no stranger, I see no enemy

Wherever I look, God is all I see

I don’t think of us and them

No one do I hate or condemn

I see God’s image – each one a friend.

Of any religion, caste or race

All I see is God’s shining face

His smiling face, His gracious face.

Accept as beautiful all His design

I learnt this truth in sangat divine

One Word resounds in me and you

Waheguru … Waheguru …

In him, in her, in me and you

Waheguru … Waheguru …

Beholding in every being His light

I bloom like a flower in joy and delight.

This That JOY!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. If you are having issues with angst and depression or you just need to uncover your own joy; find something to do that’s in service of someone else.

image

I think I’m victim of the change of seasons. One day it’s perfectly beautiful here and the next it’s forty degrees. I’ve had a low fever coupled with a few random symptoms for a while now. While I don’t think it’s serious, it’s enough to make me feel run down and achy. Yesterday was the first day I considered staying home from work because of it. Not only did I not feel up to going to do my regular work, Charlie and I had slated ourselves to help with kitchen duty for the Church’s weekly, parish-wide meeting. I decided to push through and I am EVER so happy I did!

Who knew how much fun it would be to get to cook in a huge kitchen and then serve a huge group of people? I know it’s not every person’s idea of a great time, but it is mine. I love to cook and being in that kitchen took me back to grade school days where the biggest worry I carrived was whether to choose french fries or mashed potatoes.

The harder I worked, the better I felt and when it came time to stand on my side of the table and serve the people coming through the line, in true Grinch fashion, I felt my heart start to grow and grow. It was so fun to look across and see all of the faces and take a moment to try to make each one of them smile. I think by the time the night was over, I was floating a few feet above the ground and my illness? What fever? What symptoms?

Last night I revisited the Bobbe of days gone by, who IS very social and loves to cater to people. I do know where my joy comes from…it’s in connecting with and in serving others. Trust me when I say that not every person I encountered yesterday had a bright, shining face, and not everyone was responsive. It didn’t matter. Joy’s got game; it doesn’t recognize snarls and snarky remarks. Joy only sees other people with compassion and love.

I would have been justified if I’d chosen to stay home yesterday. Thank GOD I didn’t or I’d have missed the most fun I’ve had in quite a long while.

When I finally collapsed in bed last night I truly felt I’d been of good service. Nothing replaces that feeling, except perhaps what it feels like to first be falling in love. I think joy lives equally in both experiences.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. If you are having issues with angst and depression or you just need to uncover your own joy; find something to do that’s in service of someone else. Go out of your way to be kind when you don’t feel like it. Help someone who cannot reciprocate. Offer a heartfelt compliment to a stranger. Tutor a student. Visit with the elderly. Find something to do that takes the focus OFF of you and places it onto someone else.

Joy lives there.

ACTION

An Angel Reminder: A man is the origin of his actions. Aristotle

Action is movements. It is the exertion of energy or influence. As humans, we are in action a lot of the time. We take action, or we go in and out of action. If we are the origin of our actions as Aristotle said, then who are you? What have your actions in the past hour said about you? How about in the past year? How about your actions toward certain people? What is is that your actions are trying to get across? Once we take action in response to something, we can’t undo the action. We can know many things, but we will never really know the effect of and extent of all our actions.

Think about your actions today. Think about the actions of the angels. Is it always possible to think before we act? Do you recognize all your actions, or do you sometimes look back and ask, “Did I do that?” Ask the angels for help in acting consciously, with courage and compassion.

An Angelic Reflection: With the angels in my life, I can be a true action hero.

celebration Celebration: This time of light is a time of rejuvenation, of recharging your batteries. Take time to celebrate and rejoice in the uplifting of spirits. Lighten up. Acknowledge your diligence and give yourself credit and appreciation for all that you have accomplished. Stop and smell the roses. Stop to appreciate the beauty and majesty that is present in your lives.

Focus on what you are creating, not what is crumbling. Remember: neutral compassion, this is especially important for what is in your personal experience. Witness and bless. All the angels join with you in celebrations of light at this time, it is by this light that you are united, and by this light that you have created all that is on its way to you. What a glorious time to rejoice in all that is good and all that is true.

Don’t give up – for while it appears that you are on a solitary path, you are supported by reams of fellow beings of light on all around you. If you do nothing else at this time of celebration, remember the unseen party that is going on everywhere!

image Serenity: You are free from stress and your disposition is of greater inner peace and tranquility.

Even if your unable to resolve a current task at hand, your peace of mind and faith will allow you to trust that the angels and God will take care of you. If something in your life isn’t working, be willing to release it to God and the angels.

The angels reassure you that tranquility and refreshed peace of mind is within you. As you work toward serenity, and inner peace your life’s unforeseen problems begin to lessen and disappear.

Blessed are they who give
without expecting even thanks in return,
for they shall be abundantly rewarded.

Blessed are they who translate
every good thing they know into action,
for ever higher truths shall be revealed unto them.

Blessed are they who do God’s will
without asking to see results,
for great shall be their recompense.

Blessed are they who love and trust their fellow beings,
for they shall reach the good in people and
receive a loving response.

Blessed are they who have seen reality, for they know
that not the garment of clay but that which activates
the garment of clay is real and indestructible.

Blessed are they who see the change we call death
as a liberation from the limitation of this earth-life,
for they shall rejoice with their loved ones
who make the glorious transition.

Blessed are they who after dedicating their lives
and thereby receiving a blessing, have the courage and faith
to surmount the difficulties of the path ahead,
for they shall receive a second blessing.

Blessed are they who advance toward the spiritual path
without the selfish motive of seeking inner peace,
for they shall find it.

Blessed are they who instead of trying to
batter down the gates of the kingdom of heaven
approach them humbly and lovingly and purified,
for they shall pass right through.

I’ve got the joy, joy, joy, joy
Down in my heart

Down in my heart
Down in my heart to stay

And I’m so happy
So very happy
I’ve got the love of Jesus in my heart
And I’m so happy
So very happy
I’ve got the love of Jesus in my heart

Weighted Words

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17

image

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17

It’s always fun when I’m going through old writings and I find something that is still as applicable today as it was the day I wrote it. What’s even better is that I can remember exactly where I was and what I’d done that day. The Janitor I speak of below is someone I never knew very well, but he wrote his name in my heart on more than one occasion, with a kind word and deed. I returned the favor.

The “words have weight” phrase is something that lives in the forefront of my brain lately. I suppose it’s because I’ve been hurt quite a bit this week, so I want to be mindful of the way I speak to others, the way I speak to myself and the manner in which I carry myself.

Years from now I’d like for someone out there to be reading through old writings and find a good memory of me…just like I remember my former office building’s maintenance man. I can’t remember his name, but I absolutely remember the kindness he showed to me.

“Purpose is the foundation of a meaningful life.”

Late at night when the quiet finds me, I think about what the world and its people mean to me. Thoughts of the day’s conversations flow through my brain and sometimes land in my heart. Not everything finds a resting place there, because so often the days are filled with meaningless words and deeds.

Some nights there is utter silence inside; a stillness there that almost beckons tears. It arrives without warning, though not without purpose.

It comes as a reminder that the words I speak during the day very often carry no meaning at all. Why would I think someone would be interested in the man who cut me off at the corner or the bank teller who was rude to me or what silly thing a friend encountered? Is anyone ever truly interested when someone relates such a story?
Is this type of speech important in daily life? What is it I said during the day that really meant anything?

Thinking back I realize…

I wished the janitor a happy day and then I hugged him for no reason. This was the single important, purposeful thing I’d done. I’d touched him with my wishes and with my hug. Everything else was wasted air. I hadn’t touched anyone else’s heart. No wonder the silence beckons tears of emptiness.

Which begs the question, can we be fulfilled on a daily basis if we fail to touch another’s heart? Could it be possible this is why there is so much depression in our society?

What would I speak of if I were prevented from relating the days events or of my interactions with others?
What would anyone speak of?

Obviously there is a choice to be made at any given moment each day. We can choose to pollute the air with tales that mean nothing to us or to our captive listener OR we can choose to make a difference by touching others.

Yes, you guessed it. Random words of kindness and love coupled with acts of love where appropriate.

Go ahead. Experiment. I dare you to.

From The Angels:

divine-guidance Divine Guidance:
Trust and follow your intuition. It is God and the angels speaking to you.

You are being Divinely guided right now. The gut feelings you have, the knowingness, the visions, or the inner voice are all trying to tell you something, and it is very important that you trust and follow this guidance.

If you drew more than one card, pay close attention to the cards that are on either side of the “Divine Guidance” card-they contain important instructions for you. These nearby cards feature facets of the message that the angels seek to impress upon you.

new-beginnings New Beginnings
A clean slate is presented to you as you now encounter fresh opportunities and novel experiences.

Embrace the new in your life, including new opportunities, people, and projects. The angels know that change can be frightening, and they surround you now with loving energy. Call upon them whenever you feel afraid of facing novel situations. They will boost your confidence and energy so that you can enjoy your new beginnings.

Sometimes we cling to old routines because they are familiar. By drawing this card, the angels ask you to be open to new approaches to life. Perhaps they will teach you a new way of looking at situations. Or maybe they will call on you to learn a new skill. Whatever the new beginning is for you, allow yourself to be stretched by the fresh circumstances. We learn about ourselves through new experiences.

freedom Freedom
The angels guide you to freely express your true thoughts and feelings with love.

You may feel trapped right now by life conditions. By drawing this card, the angels ask you to realize that you are the only jail keeper that ever surfaces in your own life. Whenever you realize that you have the power to be free, freedom follows. Everything that you do in your life is by choice, and you are free to choose again. Even prisoners are free to choose their thoughts so that they feel peace and happiness under any conditions.

The next time you begin a sentence with the words, “I have to ______,” please stop. Ask God and the angels to show you some alternatives. They will either help you complete the task from a loving mind-set so that you don’t feel trapped, or they will guide you to do something else that you will love.

Self-Acceptance
You are a perfect child of God, and every part of you is wonderful. Your angels guide you to let go of negative self-judgments and to enjoy being you!

“You are much too hard on yourself,” your angels say to you through this card. Although you enjoy having high standards, it’s important to view yourself through loving eyes. Berating yourself only makes your spirit sink. Self-improvement comes from a positive mind-set.

See yourself through your angels’ eyes, and you will see someone who is a perfect and holy child of God. Although you have made mistakes in the past, there is nothing that you could have ever said, thought, or done that would change God’s love for you. The angels see past your surface mistakes; they see the beating heart of God’s love within you. They love you unconditionally, and they ask you to love yourself in the same way!

Lord, I cry unto thee: make haste unto me;
give ear unto my voice, when I cry unto thee.

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense;
and the lifting of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

Psalm 141:1-2

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.
Serve the Lord with gladness;
come before his presence with singing.
Know ye that the Lord he is God;
it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving,
and into his courts with praise;
be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting;
and his truth endureth to all generations.

Psalm 100

Negative Self Talk

Our lives are filled with challenges, changes, fulfillment, surprises, ups and downs. More importantly, they are ours to do with what we wish, each and every day. When we are confused, confined or when we take a wrong turn, we may need some help working through the muddle and getting back on track

positive-life-negative-mind

Our lives are filled with challenges, changes, fulfillment, surprises, ups and downs. More importantly, they are ours to do with what we wish, each and every day. When we are confused, confined or when we take a wrong turn, we may need some help working through the muddle and getting back on track. It is during these times, especially, that we must believe in ourselves and trust that we can indeed do what we set out to do. Our angels are always with us and they believe in us. They encourage us to do our best, explore the unknown, fulfill our dreams, and then dream anew. Our angels inspire us to be all that we can be.

In the pursuit of happiness many people are too busy to find that which they seek. Frequently the happiness we so passionately desire is found in little events that are but whispered. If we don’t pay attention, we miss them. There can be happiness in the way light falls through the trees or in the way autumn leaves flutter to the ground. There can be happiness in the way our children call for us by name or in the familiar sight of our home as we round the corner two blocks away. Happiness weaves is way through precious memories and valueless keepsakes that are priceless to us. Many take enormous delight in the presence of a beloved pet, just the way they look at us or the unconditional love they pour out upon us. For some, there is genuine delight in the taste of a specially loved food. We are surrounded by that which can be meaningful and full of delight. The question is, will we be still and quiet long enough to enjoy?

Most people’s unhappiness can be traced directly to the tone of the voice in which they talk to themselves–nagging, demanding, criticizing. Simply stopping to notice inspires compassion and integration. Compassion towards oneself is the prototype of the compassion one has for others. Playing self-condemning and self-improvement games keeps people in the path of always seeking but never finding happiness. Recognize and acknowledge that you are a truly beautiful person you are just the way you are right now!

I’ve discovered I always have choices and sometimes it’s only a choice of attitude!”

How often have you heard the phrase, ‘Nobody’s perfect,’ or even said it yourself? This phrase brings to mind some unspoken judgment that you should be perfect, that you should be able to do and have it all. Well, did you know that unrealistic sense of perfection actually gets in the way of achieving your dreams?

That inner critic, who is inside many of us, is nothing but a troublemaker! I am talking about that nagging little voice inside of you that says, ‘I don’t know if I can do that,’ or ‘I’m not good enough,’ or even, ‘why bother trying when I know it won’t work.’ That inner critic accepts nothing short of perfection!  And let’s face it, life is far from perfect!

But back to our inner critic. What it is? It comes from a lack of self-confidence, plain and simple. The funny thing about lacking confidence is that it doesn’t mean you aren’t capable. It has more to do with having unreasonably high expectations. When you accept only perfection, then who on earth can possibly measure up?

What you really need to keep you moving forward are realistic, doable expectations, and the ability to keep a positive outlook, even if you do make a mistake or fail in some plan. As former First Lady Rosalyn Carter has said, ‘Once you accept the fact that you’re not perfect, then you develop some confidence.’

When you are self-confident—and I’m not talking about being a ‘know-it-all’—you know and trust your abilities and set realistic expectations. You can keep a positive outlook and accept the fact that you can make mistakes or even fail, without being wrong or incapable.

So the next time you find yourself expecting perfection, just remind yourself that ‘nobody’s perfect.’

Broken a little

Yesterday I violated a rule of mine. I cried at work. More. Than. Once.

image

Yesterday I violated a rule of mine…and I couldn’t help it. (Sucks) I cried at work. More. Than. Once.  Tonight I am still sitting here weepy, only now I am mad at myself for being weepy at work today. (Argh. I am soooooooo much better than this.)

To break it down, I have been a participant in multiple high stress situations beyond my control since before summer started. Most of them involve trying to handle the estate and final sale of my recently departed mother-in-law’s home from across several states…but there are others as well. I seem to be meeting myself coming and going. (Keep in mind we are crossing into November. That is a long time to be in near constant stress.)

At this point, if my tolerance for negativity were a sponge, mine would be oozing and dripping all over the counter top. Though I know this will subside eventually, right now I am hyper sensitive. At least I am aware of it, right?

All of this brings me to a reflection from days gone by:

What would happen if:

For one day only, we choose to speak solely when necessary?
For one day only, we speak not ONE word to another ABOUT what another person said, did, thought or acted like? (In short, we do not speak about others unless it is to communicate something positive and wonderful?)
For one day only, we turn off the car radio and cell phone and instead, offer sincere prayer for anyone we pass on the street?
For one day only, we projected all the love we have in our lives to somewhere else, say, the Middle East?
For one day only, we keep our secrets between ourselves and God?
For one day only, we choose to follow, rather than to lead?
For one day only, we were quiet enough to hear God’s voice inside us?

What would it say?

In the past, I used to declare every Monday: “Affirmation Monday”. My friends and I would post what our intentions and affirmations were for the week. Maybe today might be a good day to do some reflecting on the times in our lives when we’ve been hurt someone else’s words or deeds and how we can help to eradicate this type of behavior in our own lives.

Yesterday Charlie and I were talking about how people speak to one another. I related an experience I had at a film event where a girl I have never met and who is probably thirty years my junior, kept calling me “baby”. “Baby, Baby…are you sitting in that chair?” I was polite and smiled, but inside I wanted to take her by the arm and say to her, “Listen to yourself, you sound like an imbecile; is this really the image you want to project here?” I realize it was a small thing that isn’t worth dwelling on, or is it? Today I’m still thinking about that girl and wondering; Who is her mother? Why wasn’t she taught how to be respectful? Did she think she was being cute? How many of this girl are out there? (ha ha).

Sometimes without realizing it, even the inflections we use may cause another to misinterpret the meaning behind what we are saying. How many times are we so consumed in our own thoughts that when a person asks us a question, we only half answer them or worse, our tone indicates we feel we are being bothered?

My affirmation for the coming week is to be totally present in my conversations, to listen, rather than react, to offer love when I don’t have to.  (This and to leave my tears at home where they belong!)

What will be your affirmations?

From the Angels:

Well, I don’t know what will happen now.
We’ve got some difficult days ahead.
But it doesn’t matter with me now.
Because I’ve been to the mountaintop.
And I don’t mind.
Like anybody, I would like to live a long life.
Longevity has its place.
But I’m not concerned about that now.
I just want to do God’s will.
And He’s allowed me to go up to the mountain.
And I’ve looked over.
And I’ve seen the promised land.
I may not get there with you.
But I want you to know tonight, that we,
as a people will get to the promised land.
And I’m happy, tonight.
I’m not worried about anything.
I’m not fearing any man.
Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord

soul

Last night it seemed like every one of my friends was flipping out over the fact that  the latest season of “The Walking Dead” was premiering.

I am not a zombie fan. I’m not a fan of the vampire movies and shows. I’m not a fan of the ghost chasing shows. In fact, I’m repelled by the anything to do with darkness, including haunted houses and most aspects of Halloween…yes, even the candy….and I’ve been this way since I was a child. People try to tell me it’s fun to be scared. Halloween only comes once a year. It’s okay to fantasize once in a while. Really? Is this what your fantasy really is?

I recall a time, long ago, when the Blessed Mother shocked me into reality simply by saying to step back and break down what is actually going on to its simplest form. What are we really celebrating? What are we focusing our time and energy on? You put an entire graveyard in your front yard and you have zombies and monsters and vampires hanging in your trees and you put a label on it called, “decorating for Halloween”.

Tap. Tap. Tap. Excuse me, when you put GRAVES and dead people in your front yard. What are you actually celebrating? It’s not a fun holiday that comes around once per year.

Think about it.

When the first Vampire Diary type show hit the air, I felt a little tug in my heart. I liken it to the sprouting of a seed of dread. One show like this that becomes a hit always spawns fifteen more and then some. If we do not think that what we focus our attention on has any impact on the way we live our daily lives, we’re living in la-la land. Likewise, television and film often mimic trends of interest in modern society. Really? Is THIS what we’re interested in? Or is it that film and television execs are having a good joke on us and that they think of the public as a form of consumer zombie, who doesn’t think much about what it’s being fed? (Ding ding ding ding!!)

Remember back when your parents used to say, “You ARE the company you keep?” The same holds true for what you place your emphasis and attention on.

Years ago when it first aired, I tried to watch the show, “The Walking Dead”, with an open mind. I admit the first few episodes were compelling, very well done and pretty well written. Long about the fourth and fifth episodes, my stomach started to turn and I felt my insides getting ready to stage a revolt. Last night I fell asleep before it began (no intention of watching it) but I woke to a scene that was so horrific it jolted me upright and it angered me to my core.

I fail to see how such disturbing graphic gore, violence and psychological trauma constitutes as entertainment. What little I heard, because I refused to open my eyes and look, still makes me angry today.

The entire matter makes me sad. The only way to fight it is to stop consuming this stuff. Turn off the television, stop going to the films, stop buying the ridiculous nonsense being sold to us.

Honestly, what do you think God, Himself would feel about all this?

IT DOES MATTER and this is NOT a SMALL THING.

Tune In For the Latest Body Count

An Angel Reminder: Watched by an angel.

What if you were an angel watching TV for the first time? If you were channel surfing, what would you notice prevails on the tube? Have you ever noticed that most of our prime-time TV dramas center around death by way of murder (or worse, these days it’s death by Zombie)? Have you realized that most new programming, especially local news, is little more than a body count of recent tragic deaths? And those TV shows that are not based on murder or death are based on betrayal, like soap operas. The shows that are billed as comedies portray exaggerated, inane behavior that we don’t want to admit is going on. So what do you think the angels would say about our TV programming and its reflection of the collective consciousness? Is human life really like it is portrayed on TV?

Think about the last time you watched something truly edifying and inspirational on TV. How often does it occur, and how easy is it to find? Next time you watch TV, pretend you are an angel. When a body count is happening, pray that God watches over the souls as they make their passage. Take a new look at what you spend a lot of your time looking at.

An Angelic Reflection: I will pay more attention to the angels’ view of our world.

From The Angels:

children Children: Children are a tremendous blessing to us, but they are also a tremendous responsibility that God has entrusted to us. As parents, we have been entrusted to nurture, train, teach and prepare our children for life.

Are you taking time to invest in your children? And if you don’t have any children, how about your nieces and nephews? We all have things that we’ve learned: skills, talents, life experiences, wisdom. You have a responsibility to transfer what we know to the next generation. When you invest in somebody else, you will continue to live on. Your life can have influence for generations to come if you will take time to invest in people. The only way this is going to happen is if you are taking time to invest in them. If you are not careful, you will substitute activity for attention. Understand, your children need you more than they need another activity.

The best legacy is not what you leave for people. It’s what you leave in people. You have a wealth of knowledge that God has entrusted you with. You are not supposed to keep that to yourself. You should be passing that on to somebody else. You have a responsibility to transfer what we know to the next generation. If you need guidance all you need to do is ask, we are always here for you.

imageHealing: The highest purpose of your healer guides is to restore your self-awareness and self-esteem as children of God and help you accept the love and unlimited blessings that God grants you.

Opening your heart and mind to your worthiness is the best healing of all.

power Power: The power of your Creator is within you. It doesn’t matter if you’re facing a situation that seems larger than life or something that is a small hurdle the angels and God want to help you overcome it all!

The key to finding resolve in so many of life’s circumstances is to stay in the right frame of mind. You have the power of your Creator within you, all of the His greatness brings into focus who He is; faithful, righteous, good, honest and it diminishes the negative problems you are facing.

You have all the power of Divine love it is unlimited allow yourself shine. He is the one who with just his voice spoke the world and universe and cosmos into being, yet he is interested in the smallest and most intimate details of your life.

Isaiah 40:28-31
Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Today’s Prayers:

Holy Spirit,
Giving life to all life,
Moving all creatures,
Root of all things,
Washing them clean,
Wiping out their mistakes,
Healing their wounds,
You are our true life,
Luminous, wonderful,
Awakening the heart from its ancient sleep.

Ask. Believe. Receive.

Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. Mark 11:24

This morning as I was lying in bed (for the third day) obsessing over a test I have tomorrow, the quote above passed through my mind. Then I started berating myself over the fact that I have all ready given this issue to God and I shouldn’t be even thinking about it any more. I paused and literally pictured myself opening a gold box, putting my anxiety in, closing it and handing it to God.

Whatever will be, will be and who better to handle my issue than God?

I am normally the poster child for the saying, “Ask. Believe. Receive. Say thank you.”, yet for whatever reason with this test, I am having trouble giving it completely over. (Sorry God.)

Whenever this happens I force myself to get busy and find something to do that will take my mind elsewhere. Yesterday, the house got cleaned top to bottom. Today, I will pack up my little dog, Sammy, and go over and spend the day at my Mom’s.

Today will be an exercise in practicing what I preach. Once an issue has been given over to God, it needs to stay there. I have no power over it and it has no power over me any more.

Interestingly, when I opened my computer this morning, the first thing I saw was the following letter. I wrote it about five years ago and yet, it is as true today as it was then.

Coincidence?

No. Such. Thing.

Dear Child:

Ask and you shall receive. Knock and the door shall be opened. You know all of this. Carry it with you.

Continue to act with a pure heart, choosing each day to carry on with that smile on your face. I am pleased you continue to find joy in your heart. Your spirit touches many. You must not forget to find my Blessings in all that you do, most especially in the difficulties you experience in your daily life.

As I have shown you in the past and continue to show you at the present time….you are not alone. I am ever by your side and in your heart. I will not let you fail so stop looking over your shoulder.

Pray with faith that all is well and so it is.

I love you. Carry On.
God.

Too Much Noise

Nothing outside of what I am hearing and feeling in my own heart can ground me more or make me feel better.

happy-heartI am a person who needs a certain amount of silence in my daily life . I am happiest and most grounded the days I am able to be quiet at home and not have to listen or talk much at all. In fact, I’ve found it’s essential to my well-being. This is because for my entire life I’ve embraced my spiritual/mystical side. Nothing outside of what I’m hearing in my heart can ground me or make me feel better. Outside influences, however, can knock me off track so quickly, I may not even realize why I’m feeling out of sorts.

I just noticed recently that I’m walking around with a weird buzzing in my ears at times. I finally figured out this is because I’ve been inadvertently sleeping with the television on (sound turned off). For me, it doesn’t matter if there is sound or not. The subconscious mind is always listening and in this case, picking up on that electronic buzzing sound. That buzz alone is fully capable of (and has been) throwing me out of balance.

It’s of the utmost importance to find time every single day to turn OFF electronic devices, step away from the computer, take the ear buds OUT and listen to the rejuvenating silence of the heart.

Sounds simple enough, doesn’t it? Take some stock of how much time you are spending connected to any form of outside noise, then compare it to how much time you actually spend disconnected from electronic devices. If it’s disproportionate (and I suspect it is), you might have an answer as to why you are sometimes upset and feeling disjointed and even depressed, and don’t know why.

From the Angels:

image Serenity:  You are free from stress and your disposition is of greater inner peace and tranquility..

Even if your unable to resolve a current task at hand, your peace of mind and faith will allow you to trust that the angels and God will take care of you. If something in your life isn’t working, be willing to release it to God and the angels.

The angels reassure you that tranquility and refreshed peace of mind is within you. As you work toward serenity, and inner peace your life’s unforeseen problems begin to lessen and disappear.

image Archangel Michael: Rapid change is often unsettling and can be stressful, but only because it seems to be too rapid and therefore threatening. Remember that you have agreed on the higher level to be part of the change, and that the changes are to bring in Light, Love, Joy and Abundance.

Operate from your Heart rather than your head. If there is fear, then it is coming from your head. Stay grounded and open, and be practical. If you are in the flow of Divine Creative energy, then you cannot fail.

Archangel Michael is making his presence known to you. Remember that you are Safe and Protected at all times, and that all is in Divine Order at all times! If you trust Divine Order, and not your old habits, you will be fine! God and the angels will help you stay true to yourself during trying times.

Opening your heart and mind to your worthiness is the best healing of all.

Choices Choices

choices

It takes quite a bit to discourage my usually sunny disposition but yesterday was “one of those” days.  I had occasion to be in the same space with someone who isn’t normally there.  At first I giggled about her negativity, telling myself, “It’s just her age”, but after about an hour of consistent complaints about the work she was left to do, negative talk about a friend of mine, and even an insult about a photo of me that was published in an upcoming paper, I retreated to my room in defeat.

I didn’t take her comments to heart so much as they just zapped my energy.

What she didn’t know was that I all ready had some very heavy things weighing on my heart. If I were any one else, her attitude might have descended into me and ruined my entire day.  Instead, I decided to block it out and say a prayer for her instead.

In the afternoon, I stopped on the way home to cash a check and pick up some groceries for the weekend.  I went to my favorite cashier and noticed immediately that she wasn’t her usual, gregarious self.  I smiled at her, asked her how she was and she immediately started telling me about some of her issues. Seems her boyfriend had broken up with her and she was feeling lonely. She mentioned Charlie and I and what a solid and fun couple we seem to be.  I thanked her,  encouraged her not to give up hope, we finished our transaction and I started to leave.

When I got to the door I remembered the woman I’d began my day with and how her attitude affected me so negatively.  I turned around and said to her, “You know, you are our favorite person in this store.  You do the best job and you always make us smile and I see that you do this for every single person.  This store has a real asset in you!”  She lit up like a Christmas tree and thanked me profusely.

We said a few more words and for NO apparent reason I asked her if she knew a friend of mine.  Her eyes grew wide and she flew over to me and hugged me exclaiming that the person I’d mentioned used to be her very best friend in the world.  We stood there talking a bit more and I promised to go right home and send a message to her to tell her about our exchange.

As I made my way out of the store, I felt giddy about having changed the way her day was going and though I was still carrying a problem in my heart, it didn’t feel as heavy.  That sweet lady was so happy when I left her and so was I.

Important lesson for me to remember:  I have a choice about how I react to others.  It took no greater effort for me to say a few kinds words than it would have for me to have kept my mouth shut.  I chose to leave her with positive energy over leaving her with nothing or worse:  the negativity I began the day with.

Long ago when I used to write another blog, I would always end it with messages from the angels. I’ve decided to start listening to my angels more fervently because they always help to put me right on the correct path and I need that right now. Whenever I do a card reading for myself, I always ask that it be meaningful for others as well. So, if you find meaning in anything below, know that it was meant for you to find here.

From The Angels:

truth-intergrity Truth & Integrity: You have the strength to stand strong in the midst of difficult situations, and the wisdom it takes to make good decisions. If something in your life isn’t working, be willing to release it to God and the angels.

Understand you are important, and know that you are called to add value to the world around you. No matter where you are in life today, you have potential to increase, grow, to be strengthened, and to move forward. God created you for His good purpose and you are His masterpiece!

listening Listening:  It’s easy to get busy in life trying to do everything at once. You can listen and work at the same time but sometimes multi-tasking isn’t the best use of our time. Sometimes we have to stop, look people in the eyes, and give them the gift of listening.

We need to take time to deposit value in their hearts. We need to support one another, and listening is an amazing way of doing just that.

As you go about your day, the angels remind you to give people the gift of listening. It seems like such a little thing, but those little deposits will eventually make a big difference. When you make deposits in people, you are making deposits in eternity, and that is what pleases the heart of God.

healing Healing:  The highest purpose of your healer guides is to restore your self-awareness and self-esteem as children of God and help you accept the love and unlimited blessings that God grants you.

Opening your heart and mind to your worthiness is the best healing of all.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.  Colossians 3:23-24

Mistaken Identity

image

Growing up I was one of the kids always picked last in gym class. Although I remember cringing sometimes, most of the time I just did not care. I wasn’t a particularly uncoordinated kid or overweight or weak. My issue was being afraid to really try for fear of making a fool out of myself, which in itself was kind of funny, since I spent most of my time purposefully making people laugh. No one tortured me or made huge fun of me either. They just didn’t want me on their team. Fine.

I was not put in honor’s classes or even among the smartest of my class all the way through high school and into my first year of college. I can’t remember ever feeling hugely inferior, but I do remember being irritated always being in the mid level groups, but not irritated enough to do anything about it. I’m not even sure I realized there was something I could do about it.

Long about sophomore year in college, I took a sociology class, taught by a highly unconventional professor. Although I cannot remember the details, I remember how infuriated my classmates used to be in this class. They couldn’t understand his methods. He didn’t follow a lesson-plan. He didn’t test us. He required us to write papers about odd topics. What amused me most was that I understood exactly what he was trying to do, from the very beginning. I sat there, day in and day out listening to him speak, wishing I could stand up to say to my classmates, “Just hold on…eventually what he’s doing will make sense to you.”. The first time I wrote a paper for him, I received an A+. The second time I wrote a paper for him, I received an A+ and so on. I couldn’t believe it. One of the by-products of taking his class was the realization that if I knew who my audience was, I could really write. I started applying this to my other classes. It worked every time. Before I turned around twice, I was a straight “A” student.

Who? ME?

The key, I believe, was in my applying myself. How many of us used to get the report from parent-teacher conferences: “Does not work to full potential”, “failure to apply oneself”. I never knew what that even meant until college.

Junior year in college, I was looking for an easy credit to take for my P.E. requirement so I took, “Walking”. (I fig ured I already had a jump on this one since I’d learned to walk early in life.) Imagine my chagrin when it turned out that this was one of the tougher classes I’d ever taken. Ha, the joke was on all of us looking for an easy “A”. We were tested every week on anatomy, physiology, health, fitness, nutrition etc. In addition to this we were required to do “timed” walks several miles a day, right from the very first day. Again, I made a shocking discovery: I liked to finish first. By then end of this class, I was actually running five miles each period and because I enjoyed “winning”, I was pushing myself harder and harder. No one scored higher than I did. No one went faster than I did.

What’s the point? I grew up thinking I wasn’t athletic. I always knew I had a quick wit, but I don’t think I ever realized just how capable and smart I could be until later in life. I don’t think anyone ever really put a label on me or threatened me in any way, but I definitely lived under a mistaken impression for a while.

I wonder how many of us are still living under a mistaken identity?

Today is a perfect day to reflect on the fact that we are all part of a consistent evolution.

What can you do today that you thought you’d never be doing in your life? What do you still want to do?

We’re not wearing concrete shoes, ya know. What are you waiting for?

NEVER AGAIN will I confess or focus on discontent, because the Word says: “I have learned in whatever state (circumstances) I am, to be content.” (Philippians 4:11)

NEVER AGAIN will I confess or focus on unworthiness, because the Word says: “He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” (2 Corinthians 5:21)

NEVER AGAIN will I confess or focus on confusion, because the Word says: “God is not the author of confusion, but of peace.” (1 Corinthians 14)

Prayer for Today:
Each day is a blessing
of epic proportions.
I give thanks for
what might seem meager comforts:
real cream in my coffee,
a day without a bill in the mail,
the Paso Doble.
Sometimes life is a dance
a woman has to do backwards
pushing against the wind
and obstacles in the way.
Thank You for being the partner
who always leads.
